Domaine THET
Montlouis-sur-Loire | Loire Valley | France
The name Thet is an old word meaning meeting place, located near a very small monastery that existed here centuries ago. The winery itself is located beside the domaine’s oldest vineyard, Haut du Thet. Dmitry Khlopin, a physicist who has studied wine in France for the past decade, purchased this small domaine from the former owners in 2019. Prior to Domaine Thet, Dmitry lived and studied winemaking in Champagne and also obtained an MBA focused in international wine and spirits trade. After some extensive research and planning, he settled on the Loire Valley and the desire to work with Chenin Blanc. This small estate produces a handful of wines, ranging from sparkling to still white, rose, and red, including two single vineyard Montlouis white wines. Montlouis is the smallest AOC in the Loire Valley and represents some of the highest quality interpretations of Chenin Blanc. Dmitry has begun the conversion to organic certification for the winery, something that is very important and prevalent within this small appellation. We believe that the pragmatic and technical approach that Dmitry utilizes at the domaine produces excellent results now and we are thrilled to be there with him at the beginning of his journey.
